The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has notified Congress of a possible foreign military sale (FMS) of items and services to The Government of Netherlands.
With an estimated value of $1.191bn, the sale will support the upgrade or development of 28 AH-64D Block II Apache attack helicopters to the AH-64E configuration.
The deal includes the upgrade of 51 remaining T700-GE-701C engines to T700-GE-701D, 17 AN / APG-78 fire control radar (FCR) and subcomponents, 28 AN / ASQ-170 modernised target acquisition and designation sights (MTADS) / AN / AAR-11 modernised pilot night vision sensors (PNVS).
Around 28 AN / APR-48B modernised radar frequency interferometers (MRFI) and 70 embedded global positioning system / inertial navigation systems (EGI), in addition to the multi-mode receiver are also included in the proposed sale.
Under the possible FMS, the Netherlands has also requested for the procurement of non-MDE items and services to support the aircraft upgrade, in addition to training devices, helmets, simulators, generators, transportation, wheeled vehicles and organisation equipment. It also includes spare and repair parts, support equipment, tools, as well as test equipment.
The deal is expected to help enhance the capability of the country to address both the current and future threats, strengthen its homeland defence, and provide direct support to coalition and security cooperation efforts.
Boeing in St Louis, Missouri, and Lockheed Martin in Bethesda, Maryland, will function as the principal contractors for the sale.
