ATK has delivered the first two A2100 composite satellite structures and the first ship set of propellant tanks to Lockheed Martin in support of the US Air Force (USAF) GPS III satellites programme.

The delivery is a part of a contract awarded to ATK in April 2010 and also includes fabrication of a non-flight satellite testbed structure and the first two GPS III satellite structures.

Lockheed will integrate and test the lightweight GPS III structure and the propellant tanks.

The GPS III will provide USAF with advanced anti-jam capabilities, yielding superior system security, accuracy and reliability for military users and will improve position, navigation and timing services.

The first GPS III satellite will be delivered to the USAF in 2014.
